The Boys Are Back in Town.

Our parisians brothers were back in New York for a few days,
so had little bbq action in the west village.

7.24.2008

Happy Birthday Monika!

Monika did her birthday brunch at Bobo, on their super cute
rooftop patio. The food was really great and they made really
amazing summer champagne drinks!

7.20.2008

Anna in NYC!

A few of Anna's first nights out in New York.

Nylon x Federico at Urban Outfitters!

My friend Federico's got 8 designs chosen for the Nylon x Urban Outfitters
collaboration! These 2 are now available online but more are on the way!
They are so awesome so look out for them in stores!

6.14.2008

In True Lower East Side Style.

Monika perched on curb on the streets of the lower east side,
while we queued up to see the premiere of "Captured", a film
by Clayton Patterson. Clayton, who is actually Canadian =),
spent the last 30 years religiously documenting the people and
the vibrant culture of his neighbourhood, the lower east side.
It was amazing, seeing how the LES has changed over the years,
from drug-ridden and dangerous, to the trendy scene that it is
today. It was truly amazing and communal experience.

The Bells are Ringing.

After the film, we wanted to show Janet and Shane the "new" lower
east side,so Minh took us to her new favourite spot, The Ten Bells.
Jojo, our new friend, fresh of the fresh boat, took care of us with
lovely wine and tapas style snacks.

José in da House!

As part of LES whirlwind tour, we dropped by José Parlá's birthday
party, which was at this cute little Italian resto on Stanton.

Onto The Annex Level.

Our final stop was at Annex amongst the true hipster kids of the LES.
Dave was on the decks, and I think all my intern were there. After feeling
officially old, we decided to call it quits around 3am.

P-Didddilicious

Ariella and I hard at work on Friday afternoon....Ciroc,
a potential advertiser came to the office for us to sample
their vodka! They brought sushi and sandwiches too!

6.12.2008

Deep Dining.

Janet was visiting from SF, so I wanted to take her somewhere quaint and
delicious. Prune, in the east village was just the place. The space was small
and quaint and the kitchen wide open. People were friendly and the food
and wine was amazing! We shared a great fresh anchovy appertizer and
a whole fish as our main! We drank wonderful white white from Piemonte.
And finished off our feast with a sweet omelette, flamed with Calvados...
so of course we had a glass of Calvados to go along with it!

A Very Social Sunday.

Monika and I went for a lovely brunch with Willhelm and Ran
at Stanton Social in the lower east side. The food was amazing,
with mini tacos and lobster eggs benedict.

Straight outta da Mission. (not)

Monika, Matt and I finally caved after missing SF burritos so much,
and tried Benny's in the neighbourhood. No wonder they get so
much heat, they call themselves "San Francisco MIssion Style", that's
just wrong! Their tacos were decent, and frozen margaritas cheap
and very good, but can't say the same for their burritos.
The search continues...

6.09.2008

Make Way for the WBB!

Nylon said goodbye to our beloved Winona at Sweet & Vicious.
The frozen margaritas were ice cold and strong, so it was fun all
around. We even snuck in corn from Habana to feed the troops.

Oh, Habana!

Mihn (my fellow canadienne) enjoyed her first even corn on the cob
at Café Habana... well, it was Habana to go, so almost the same
thing... YUM!

6.08.2008

Rockin' Diary.

At the Hedi Slimane Rock Diary Party. Belvedere was free, drinks
were huge, so of course we all had a great time.

Chinatown Delight.

Wo Hop is perfect for a late night snack. We soaked up overly
intoxicated bodies with crispy noodles and fried rice. YUM!

Too Cool for School.

Yuji cruising around town on his bmx and his amazing 70's surfer outfit!

Meat Madness!

We went to check out the BBQ Festival at Madison Square Gardens.
They had BBQ meat from all different states and done in all different
styles! ..but sadly lineups were too long to even try =( so we got burgers
at Shake Shack instead! as usual, SOOOO damn good....

6.06.2008

205.

Sway Far Away.

Kalli and Anna at Sway. It was a bit too packed, but we still had fun.

B is for Bacaro.

Bacaro is this amazing restaurant buried deep in the lower east side.
It is owned by same people as Peasant, and the food is of that similar
rustic Italian nature. The restaurant is underground, and made up of
separated cave-like rooms, all lit by candlelight. Kalli was in town and
so we dined on swine and sipped on lovely wine. The most tender pork
chop, with the skin still on it, over creamy polenta.... it was all amazing.

5.26.2008

Vancouverites Unite.

It was a true Canadian crew that got together at Dana's soho studio...
Dana, Matt, Rebecca, Redia, Jody, Cian, Anna, Philippe and I... it was
crazy, EVERYONE there was from Vancouver. We later moved the party
to Home Sweet Home.

Taking our Time.

At the Olafur Eliasson exhibtion at the MOMA. Anna, Philippe, and I
really enjoyed it and spend a few hours playing with the light exhibits.

Our Modern Lunch.

Since the Modern was all booked up for lunch, we had a slightly less
fancy lunch inside the MOMA. We shared a very tasty panini and caprese
salad. The cappuccino was quite impressive as well!

Kingswood Underground.

Sarra and I had a great time catching up with my friend, Raoul
while he was in town, and a few of his british boys, Tom and Tim.
We started out at the new bar underground of Kingswood. It's a
nice place with a cool cute crowd.

Beyond British.

We felt all too british ending up at the Soho House.

5.06.2008

Late night action at Beatrice.

Hayley and I ended up finishing off the night at Beatrice in the
West Village.

Sway Away...

All us girls went to Sway in Tribeca...super cute place... and found my
Nylon intern, Gregory and his friend, Ivan. Hayley was representing
by drinking a Molson Canadian! Old school!

Our Home Sweet Home!

Hayley was in New York, so had to take her to one of my favourite bars,
Home Sweet Home. Our buddy, Dave was djing some amazing beats!

My Tokyo Crew!

Koko and Alfa finally met up in Tokyo. They are both best friends of
mine so I knew they would get along! This is them at Tokyu Hands
making toy bugs. Then they went to my favourite izakaya, Gochi,
in Shibuya. The guys who run it made them a special drink in honour
of me! It's of course ume-shu, which is my favourite, and they called
it the "laura special"!....I miss japan!

4.21.2008

Bella Milano!

So I went to Milano for the weekend! Actually in reality, it was about
twenty-six hours! It was amazing! Beatrice took me around to all the
great exhibitions that were goingon for the Milano Furniture Fair.
It was really wonderful and well worth it!

Beyond Buono!

This was the best cappucino I have ever had. It blew my mind. And all
the little sandwiches were amazing! The perfect snackto fuel us for
shopping and gallery hopping.

Sights and Sounds.

Beatrice took me to some amazing exhibitions around the city.
There was too much to see, but we saw as much as we could in
those few hours. I was so tired and delirious =)

Mi Piace Corso Como.

Corso Como was one of the most amazing stores I've been to in the world.
I have been many times to their store in Tokyo but this was completely
different, inset into this amazing old beautiful building, where the front
garden is a great café where you can relax and enjoy the day. They have
a beautiful bookstore and galley on the top level.

More Milano!

I was so lucky to get such beautiful weather. We walked through
the famous Galleria and into the square with the Duomo! It was
amazing!

Negroni Per Favore!

After dinner, we went late night to Bar Basso. I had to try their famous
"negroni", which was apparently invented at this bar! We ended up
running into Redia and Koko!!! It was totally by coincedence, and she
was there with Kane and his new Berlin crew, Zaine and Adriano...
It's such a crazy small world!

Mangia Mangia!

We had a lovely dinner with a bunch of us! It was good to see old friends,
mix of us from all over, London, Milan, Paris, Istanbul, and San Francisco.
I had a very delicious parpadelle al funghi!

4.17.2008

Nothing Like a Happy Ending!

We ended up having our own party in the bath-like rooms at Happy Endings!
After interupted a most "serious" photoshoot, and ended up doing our own
photoshoot! Steve and Michael, rockin' sweatpants, mind you...really got into it!

Goodbye, Mommy Dearest.

Friday was Nicholas's last day at Nylon. He always took care of all us
at the office. Making us cookies and pot brownies! So we are sad to
see him go. After goofing around at the office, we moved onto drinkin
margaritas at "n" in Soho!

4.12.2008

Creamy Beats!

Luke spun some amazing beats at this rad little bar in Williamsburg
called Huckleberry bar. Most of the nylon kids came out to support.

4.09.2008

Girls Gone Wild!

Hanging with the girls at One Oak... some really crazy girls!
We had fun none the less, with the free champagne and all!

Rollin' In True Indian Style.

We jumped into this private car service that Monika's friend
from India arranged to take us to the club. It picked us up in
Soho. Hiro, a well-know sushi-shep took shotgun and we took
the back. The scary barbie girls came along with the car! (just k)

4.03.2008

Eat up Chloe, Anja and Clémence!

At tea time today, we ate up the birthday cake from last night's party!
It had the anniversary cover on the cake and was deliciously chocolately...
but bit creepy eating the heads of our cover models =)

Happy Birthday Nylon!

Nylon's 9th Anniversary Party was at One Oak, a club in the meatpacking
district! The line was down the street, we almost didn't get in!
(cake photo by: Jamie McCarthy for Wire)

4.02.2008

Oh, Anja.

One of my favourite photographs from our current annivesary issue is this
image of Anja Rubik, shot by Guy Aroch. His photographs are so amazing.
I made it my desktop picture, so that I can be inspired every day.

Home Sweet Home!

Dj Dave threw on some nice beats on Saturday night at Home Sweet Home,
a bar in chinatwon/lower east side... tons of fun!

Jewish Crew!

We met these crazy awesome Jewish girls at Veselka!
They were all over Levain and our mac + cheese! They
were having a send off for Naomi (middle) before she
moves to Chicago.

Latenite, Ukrainian-style!

Nothing like a lil' late night eats at Velselka!
Saturday night with Levain... their mac and cheese
sure hit the spot.

Classic Coral.

Late night at a diner in Williamsburg. The classic happy drunk face
of Coral Garvey after a long night of bar hopping!
